Sea Floor Spreading
The sea floor is always spread and becoming new crust. The way this happens is at the mid-ocean ridge lava spews out of the under water volcano as the tectonic plates pull away. The old crust is pushed away by the magma and then cools. When the magma is cooled you have new crust.
